“Hats off” to Southwestern Centennial

Recently Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary begun its celebration of 100 years of existence. A century of life is certainly nothing at which to scoff. SWBTS president, Paige Patterson, elected to have all the professors and so forth wear black cowboy hats rather than the standard mortar boards of regalia fame.

Southwestern Hat Tipping

The longevity of the seminary should be applauded. I sincerely hope it will continue on long after the current crop is gone. Realizing much has been made of the whole hat-tipping photo op with the professors, I tend to think as just another comical whim of a single person. The students seem to have reacted much like we all did when our parents tried to act cool at our teenage birthday parties. They rolled their eyes and deeply wished they would stop acting embarrassing.

Oh well, “hats off” to SWBTS for 100 years.

PS. Someone should warn SWBTS that the length of time it takes their website to load is annoying.
